Job Title: CABIN ATTENDANT (ANA LONDON BASE)
The role of the Cabin Attendant:
The image of ANA is reflected in our Cabin Attendants, who must be friendly and approachable when accommodating the varying needs of our passengers.
It is a responsible job and involves everything from the anticipation and understanding of each of our customer’s needs, providing the highest standard of comfort and customer care, to the safety and security of our passengers and aircraft.
What are the essential selection criteria?The position requires a basic level Criminal Record Check
Some experience in a customer service role
Educated to A’Level standard (or European equivalent) of education
Fluent in written and spoken English language
Able to demonstrate a genuine interest and understanding of Japan and its culture
Applicants must be able to commute to London Heathrow Airport within 2 hours whilst on home standby duty.
The ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
Holder of an EU (EEA) passport with no restrictions on worldwide travel
Possess a friendly and professional manner
Be in an excellent state of health
Glasses are not permitted whilst on duty (Contact lenses are permitted)
Be at least 5’3″ (1.60m) in height with weight in proportion.
A confident swimmer
Some knowledge of Japanese language advantageousWhat training will Cabin Attendants receive?
As a cabin attendant with ANA, you will be one of our European crew working with Japanese crew on flights between Europe and Japan.Full training will be given, initially 3 weeks in London, followed by 8 weeks in Tokyo. Throughout this time you will not only learn about the culture of Japan, all aspects of in-flight service, emergency and first aid procedures but you will also study and acquire conversational skills in Japanese.
Following the initial training, there will be an on-the-job training for up to four weeks where you will fly as extra crew members and have the opportunity to put your newly learned skills into practice. Thereafter you will be one of our fully-fledged cabin attendants. Mandatory Japanese language training will continue until intermediate level achieved.
Where are Cabin Attendants based?
We are recruiting cabin attendants to be based at London Heathrow. Therefore, any duty will always start and end at Heathrow airport. At the present time there is no possibility to transfer overseas.What hours do Cabin Attendants work?
The length of your duty trips will vary, depending on how many sectors you are rostered to complete. You will fly an average of 6 sectors per month (6 one way flights).The number of sectors may vary and is dependent on the length of the flight. At the present time you will fly from London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt and Munich to Narita.
These flight patterns and routes are subject to change depending on the requirements of the Company.The work is physically demanding so you must be in excellent health. You will be required to have a full medical with the Company doctor, before an offer of employment is made.
What are the career prospects?
You will join as a Junior Cabin Attendant, and you can be promoted to more senior positions such as Senior Cabin Attendant, Purser and Chief Purser. This is subject to achieving the required criteria e.g. In-flight competency, Japanese language level etc.
What is offered?Training period of 6 months (including on the job training)
A competitive basic starting salary which is presently £12,001 per annum (currently under review)
Duty flight and airport standby allowances
30 days per annum paid holiday (including bank holidays)
After a qualifying period you will be entitled to; concessionary travel; private medical insurance
Non-contributory company pension scheme
Per diem payments to cover the cost of meals whilst on flight duty.Further information will be provided during the selection process.
